Abstract

In this article we aimed to discuss and problematize the implications of the stoppage, reorganization and conditions of teaching work during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the emergence/intensification of certain aspects of the production of psychological distress in teachers. We mainly highlight the ethical-political suffering produced by the health crisis and the consequences of its ineffective management. We understand that the scenario was aggravated by an anti-scientism/denialism and by the Brazilian political and economic crisis, these being considerable factors for the production of ethical-political suffering in people, with significant impacts on the organization of teaching work. In order to understand ethical-political suffering, it is necessary to analyze the subtle forms of human spoliation, recurrent in an unequal and unfair society that reproduces itself based on exploitation. We defend the creation of care and attention strategies for teachers' mental health and the defense of public policies that value teaching work and provide adequate working conditions.
