O Differential diagnosis between neurosis and psychosis:

questions about structural continuity

Abstract

The central axis of this article is to examine the question of structural continuity, fromthe point of view that neurosis and psychosis have more proximities than absolute differences.This assumption may be somewhat paradoxical if we analyze it from a structuralist clinic, on theother hand, it may meet Lacan's Borromean clinic, which enables a clinic of various shades. Toreflect on such questions, this research will begin with an examination of the differences betweendiagnostic approaches in psychoanalysis and psychiatry; to later analyze the concepts of phenomenon and structure; to then examine some specificities of psychoanalytic psychopathology,beyond the classic Lacanian neurosis and psychosis structures, such as the notions of "personality as if", the borderline and unclassifiable cases, the ordinary psychoses and the hysterical madnesses. Finally, after this diagnostic mapping, we will discuss the meaning of a continuum clinicas a resource to help diagnostic problems in psychoanalysis.
