Fanon and the hysterization of the discourse

Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze how Frantz Fanon’s discourse, in the text “The lived experience of the black man”, from the book Black skin, white masks, can be related to the Discourse of Hysteria, as worked by Jacques Lacan in Seminar 17. We seek to base, through the discussion elaborated throughout the article, the importance of the Hysteria Discourse in understanding both the listening of subjects in psychic suffering, and the work of elaborating the suffering resulting from violence and social oppression - as the case of the text of Fanon. Indeed, we think that psychoanalysis can be an important ally for the reading and interpretation of our experience as subjects in a society structured by racism.
