Symbiotic bonds in psoriasis

the body self in question

Keywords: Health Psychology, Psychoanalysis, Psychosomatics, Psoriasis

Abstract

The book consists of a qualitative empirical research supported by the psychoanalytic framework in the form of compiling case studies with the use of clinical psychodiagnostics instruments. Its results allowed to discuss the psychodynamic mechanism of formation of psychosomatic symptoms in cases of psoriasis, revealing failures of symbolization and expression of conflicts in the scope of the constitution of the body self. It also showed the prevalence of symbiotic and dependent parental ties in the families studied, confirming trends in the literature on the topic. The greatest contribution of the study was to demonstrate the richness of methodological designs that combine the parameters of empirical research in health and developmental psychology with the psychoanalytic framework.
