Abstract

This research sought to understand the perspectives of Cuban doctors included in the Mais Médicos Program and Brazilian doctors linked to the teams of the Family Health Strategy-ESF on mental health in primary care in a municipality in southeastern Paraná. The qualitative approach was used, with institutional analysis as a reference, and interviews were conducted with five doctors (three Cubans and two Brazilians). We work with the notion of an inverted mirror, according to which, contrary to what Cuban and Brazilian practices are expected to reflect among themselves, there is a differentiation effect between them, producing denaturing effects. Thus, different forms of understanding about mental health, the forms of treatment, and the role attributed to the use of medicines are revealed, discussing aspects that permeate this scenario. It is expected to contribute to the construction of an action articulated to the psychosocial dimension of care in the clinical context, which is a hindrance to clinical decision-making based on evidence.
